Arcoxia vs Paracetamol: Correct Medication Choice for Fever and Headache
Arcoxia (etoricoxib) is a prescription arthritis NSAID, not for general fever/headache. Use paracetamol instead — effervescent forms offer faster absorption plus hydration.
Arcoxia 90mg (etoricoxib) is a prescription COX-2 selective NSAID indicated for arthritis and gout. It is NOT appropriate for treating general fever or headaches, and should never be borrowed from another person's prescription. For fever with headache, the correct over-the-counter choice is paracetamol (acetaminophen). Effervescent forms such as Efferalgan 500mg dissolve in water, providing faster absorption and additional hydration benefit when sick. Dosing: 1-2 tablets (500mg each) every 6-8 hours, maximum 8 tablets (4000mg) per day. Key principle: do not use another person's prescription NSAID for general symptoms when appropriate OTC medications are available.
